Created attachment 114297 [details] Example document I have a document created with Microsoft Office which have some images placed manually in text. When this document is opened with libreoffice the images are misplaced and some background behind the text become white.
Created attachment 114300 [details] PDF example to show how the document is rendered with microsoft office
Reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2, Win 8.1 Several buggy issues are reproducible: - Page 1: Header and footer text backgrounds are white - Page 1: Main text frame is cornered instead of rounded - Page 2: The left symbol in the title is missing - Page 2: Text objects with a frame have a white background - Page 2: Directory frame is cornered instead of rounded - Page 2: Text in the three frames at the bottom is lifted up a little bit - Page 2: The flipping of pages corners in the three frames at the bottom are missing - Page 3: An additional image is added
Problems with rendering exist, BUT: - it's highly unlikely that any bugs of type "multiple problems/bad rendering", will be fixed - each issue (section break, paragraph break, text box, picture...) should be reported separately, after a search for already reported bugs - if bugs don't exist, they should be reported separately, even if they happen with the same file So, this shouldn't have been confirmed at all. Those who confirm should also check each problem in the newer versions up to the current master. I'll revert to Unconfirmed. I kindly ask you to reduce the file to minimum test case for each specific problem (like saving a single page that shows a problem) - if needed multiple times, of course after a search.
(In reply to A (Andy) from comment #2) > Reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2, Win 8.1 > > Several buggy issues are reproducible: > - Page 1: Header and footer text backgrounds are white WFM. > - Page 1: Main text frame is cornered instead of rounded Confirmed. Could be expressed as: all rounded frames in document have sharp corners in LibO. > - Page 2: The left symbol in the title is missing WFM. > - Page 2: Text objects with a frame have a white background WFM. > - Page 2: Text in the three frames at the bottom is lifted up a little bit Confirmed. NOTE: the text is laid out in a silly manner: by entering empty paragraphs!! > - Page 2: The flipping of pages corners in the three frames at the bottom > are missing Confirmed. > - Page 3: An additional image is added Confirmed image of random dude in the header. Created attachment 127449 [details] Example document saved with MSO 2010 Example document seems to be Office 2017, and it opens better in LO when first saved with MSO 2010.
Created attachment 127450 [details] PDF of example rendered with LO PDF of example rendered with LO shows that there are differences, some of them written here, plus proprietary font substitutes.
Created attachment 127451 [details] PDF of example saved in MSO 2010 rendered with LO This PDF is quite fine. Mayor difference is the dude coming out of header, but that shouldn't have been there at all. Looks like hidden content without purpose.
As a conclusion: - example document seems to be Office 2007, and rendering problems still exist with that, but it opens better in LO when first saved with MSO 2010 - there has been an improvement from LO 4.4 to the current LO 5.2 - I wouldn't expect this specific Office 2007 format support be improved - document rendering with the current LO is fine, except the dude coming out of header, but that hidden content shouldn't have been there at all - I'll close as WFM and if there are some remaining specific issues they should be reported separately, after a search for already reported bugs, with a minimum test case for each specific problem
