1. New Text Document. 2. View → Non-printing Characters is off. 3. Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → Formatting Aids → check Hidden Text. 4. Return a couple of times in document. 5. Type “test” and Return. 6. Select “test”, right click → Character → Font Effects → check Hidden. 7. File → Print Preview. 8. Close Preview. 9. View → Non-printing Characters (on). Result: Hidden text does not display. If you go back into Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → Formatting Aids, then you will see that Hidden Text is no longer checked. An unlikely scenario: 1. New Text Document. 2. View → Non-printing Characters is off. 3. Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → Formatting Aids → check Hidden Text. 4. Type “test” but do not return. 5. Select “test”, right click → Character → Font Effects → check Hidden. 6. File → Print Preview. 7. Close Preview. 8. View → Non-printing Characters (on). Result: Hidden text does not display and you cannot place cursor. If you go back into Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → Formatting Aids, then you will see that Hidden Text is no longer checked. I should mention that the print option for hidden text was not checked for the above tests. You get the same result if it is checked. @Gordo: What do you mean with Step 4 in the first scenario?
@Andy: Carriage Return. Hit the Return/Enter key.
(In reply to Gordo from comment #2) > @Andy: Carriage Return. Hit the Return/Enter key. Thanks for your fast reply. Unfortunately, for me not reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2, Win 8.1.
In step 6, select "test" means double click or highlight (I didn't want to use that word because it means something else within the context of LO).
(In reply to Gordo from comment #4) > In step 6, select "test" means double click or highlight (I didn't want to > use that word because it means something else within the context of LO). Thank you very much for your feedback. I made it that way. But unfortunately, I can still not reproduce it. Maybe somebody else can reproduce it?
Reproduced both scenarios in description, except I was able to place cursor after the second one.
