Description Mark Hung 2015-04-01 06:11:02 UTC
Created attachment 114515 [details]
XML copy-pasted from Windows event logger

LibreOffice 4.4.2.2 was installed with Explorer Extension and Active X disabled.
a) If Content-Disposition header of Http response is inline, the file can't not be opened directly by IE. Emserlo.dll crash event will be found in the system event logger (log attached).
b) When the Content-Disposition header is attachment, it always open successfully.
c) If LibreOffice is installed with Explorer Extension and Active X enabled, the document will be displayed inside IE window.

This case were tested on Windows7 with IE8.

Please try to get a backtrace of the crash: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the bt.

By the way, why does your XML error report file say 4.4.1.2 even though you speak of 4.4.2.2?
Comment 3 Mark Hung 2015-04-09 14:11:06 UTC
I must have made a mistake selecting the wrong version. I tried install / re-install many LibreOffice too often so that I didn't notice exact version number. But the log was copy-pasted ( except for removing acount info. ) from Windows Event Log, it should have correct information.
Comment 4 Mark Hung 2015-04-10 13:40:52 UTC
This issue could be reproduced with LibreOffice 4.4.2.2 (activeX need to be disabled while installation) and IE11. One just need to find a web site where the odf file is displayed inside the browser. If not available, use fiddler (it would require some knowledge of HTTP)to toggle content-disposition header, with the following script:

	if (oSession.oResponse["Content-Disposition"].match(/^attachment.*filename.*odt/)) {
		oSession.oResponse["Content-Disposition"] = oSession.oResponse["Content-Disposition"].replace("attachment", "inline");
		if (oSession.oResponse["Content-Type"].match(/application.octet-stream/)) {
			oSession.oResponse["Content-Type"] = "application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text";
		}
	}

I'll try to generate backtrace with windbg, but it isn't really necessary to reproduce this issue.

Can you point us to such a website by any chance? :)

Mark, can you get us a backtrace? I don't have a Windows machine, so can't do this.
Comment 8 Mark Hung 2016-01-01 06:33:56 UTC
Hi Chris,

Due to limited knowledge I have with debugging utilities on Windows, I'm not able to provide backtrace information. Note that IE bring up LibreOffice, which implies I can't attach to the process as usual way I did.
