Description Javier 2015-04-03 09:25:56 UTC
Hi,

I'm working in a "Aranese" spell checker, but I need a new Language/locale definiton.

oc-ES (Aranese)

You have more information about Aranese in:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aranese_dialect

Thanks

"Aranese" is not available in the LO 4.4.1.2 (Win 8.1)/Pootle Server language list

@Eike: What do you think about it? Should it be added? But of course it would also be necessary that somebody would make the translation and maintenance. As I see this language only spoken by a few thousand people. I could understand that for these users it would be a nice LO enhancement and therefore I marked this enhancement report as NEW, but I would like to have your feedback. Do we actually have any policy for the addition of further languages?

@Andy: that’s even one of The Document Foundation’s core values. All languages are valuable. http://www.documentfoundation.org/foundation § Manifesto

Thank you for your note. This is great.

Umm.. this somehow got overlooked.

@Javier:
Note that since a few releases you can attribute text with an arbitrary language tag, e.g. enter oc-ES in the language list combobox edit field. If a spell-checker is installed that supports oc-ES it should "just work".

@Andy:
We don't have a policy. Usually we add requested languages/locales.
Comment 5 Eike Rathke 2015-07-09 09:33:14 UTC
Just to add, the "living policy" is that it should be an officially spoken language and must be representable with a distinguished BCP 47 language tag.
