screenshot showing the space is right-clickable

When separators are merged into a single separator because there are two or more separators next to each other or because the entries between two separators are all hidden, the space utilized by the separator is still included in the width of the toolbar.

Steps:
1) Open writer
2) Insert a chart
3) While in chart edit mode, place the standard toolbar and formatting toolbar on the same row, with the standard toolbar first
4) Customize the standard toolbar to only show the undo and redo buttons
5) Move the formatting toolbar next to the standard toolbar
6) Notice the blank space between the toolbars

This is a regression as it happens all the way back to 3.5 but doesnt in 3.3.

Comment 5 Buovjaga 2020-11-13 17:18:08 UTC
Kind of reproduced: when I first moved the formatting toolbar, it stopped too early and left a gap. I moved it again and it advanced a bit. Upon third move it settled into a sensible position.

toolbar space between the toolbars after step 5

Still present.

When the bug was first reported, the toolbars weren't on the same row, so the steps now are slightly different, but the bug still shows up.

Steps:
1) Open writer
2) Insert a chart
3) While in chart edit mode, disable the 'Lock Toolbar Position' on the standard and formatting toolbars
4) Customize the standard toolbar to only show the undo and redo buttons
5) Move the formatting toolbar closer to the standard toolbar and notice it won't let you bring it as close as expected
6) Move it a second time and then the extra space in the standard toolbar will be gone
