This behavior is observed in 4.4.x only. 4.3.X works properly
Please do not confirm your own bug until confirmed independently. Since you marked as 4.4.0, please try with the current version 4.4.3. If the problem is also reproduced, please attach the file. If the file is private, please remove the confidential data first.

The problem is also reproduced with the current version 4.4.3. It doesn't occur with a simple file. It is a complex master document. I reproduced it, but the example exceeds the 10000 KB file size limit for attachments. Contrary to my primary estimation it is not a problem of the document size. Probably, the number of linked pictures causes the problem. I'll send you an e-mail with the example
Created attachment 115819 [details] Folder with several files, an example where pdf generation failed
Comment on attachment 115819 [details] Folder with several files, an example where pdf generation failed E-mail failed too, but I reproduced the error with smaller files (see attachment). When I open the file 'Problem.odm' I get the error message 'Properties for the task that you are performing are not available for the current selection' (see 'ErrorMessage.png'). Function 'Export as PDF' with set permission password starts, but then freezes.
I confirm the freeze at 50% of the progress bar during PDF export of the Problem.odm file with LibO 4.4.1.2 under Win8 it works fine and completes the process (though slowly) with LibO 4.3.5.2 status NEW. regression. needs bibisecting
No freeze for me - Ubuntu 15.04 LibreOffice Version: 4.4.2.2

I can confirm this bug using LO 5.0.6.3 under Windows 7 (x64). I have verfied the problem using the test document attached to this issue. I have the same problem using my global documents when they become too complex (more than ~100 pages). It has nothing to do with the content of the document, but with the complexity: If I split-up the global document in several smaller portions, it will always work. Additionally, the "freeze" appears the earlier the larger the document is. My current workaround is to use (forgive me) Apache OpenOffice for the pdf export of large global documents. Until now this always worked, even for the test document attached to this issue.
I don't know why, but LibreOffice version 5.1.4.2 works under Win 7, 64 bit. From my point of view, this bug can be closed. Thanks to whoever.
I can confirm this - it also works for me now using Version: 5.1.4.2 (x64). Thank you!
Good to hear the bug got resolved in the meantime. Since bugfixes happen everyday, probably one of them fixed this freeze as a side effect. In this case, when there's no known commit fixing the issue, we set the status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME.
