Created attachment 115924 [details] impossible to switch back scale factor from 400% Using 64-bit Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.1 with 4.0.4-040004-generic kernel LibreOffice version: 5.0.0.0.beta1 Build ID: 0a16c3dda4150008d9be6f24cbd15ac198d116d3 Locale: et-EE (et_EE.UTF-8) When accidentally change scale factor too high, there is no way to switch it quickly back to normal. I would propose to make an opportunity to quickly reset the UI scale factor. Visible button and possibly also shortcut key. Currently the only quick workaround seems to be delete user profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#User_profile_location) when LibreOffice is closed. This is not good as also other settings will be lost. In addition I would propose to add dynamically feedback in realtime of scale factor. This gives also understanding, which factor would be suitable. But certainly we cannot avoid also bad behaviour when somebody changes scale factor too high intentionally. E.g. in school it would impossible to continue the work and what teacher can do? Searching and deleting user profile would not be an easy task even for teachers who teach informatics but never needed to delete LibreOffice profile. There could be written a script to do that but this would be a dirty hack but not solution. Yes - we can configure profile as we wanted, make backup and write script, which will restore the previously configured profile. Such workaround requires also frequent backupped user profile renewing as renewing LibreOffice might bring changes also to user profile. So the best way would be the UI scale factor reset switch.
Also the problem is to change Settings dialog window size. If I could change the Settings window size then I could also possibly see the scale factor setting and switch it back to normal. So the second proposal would be to make possible to change Settings dialog window size and also window splitting position dynamically. Currently there is plenty space on left side but I cannot change the splitting position for now.

(In reply to Edmund Laugasson from comment #0) > [...] > When accidentally change scale factor too high How is it possible to change the scale factor to 400% accidentally? Best regards. JBF

JBF As I wrote - there is no feedback - how much will it really resize the real interface. Even I did not know and as I have FullHD resolution then sometimes I would read some text larger but not sure how big is enough. I just wanted to test but there was no other option to test than to apply the setting. But when applying then the setting dialog will close and if result is not suitable then there is no way back. Yes there would be possible to increase the value with small steps but what if I do not have time to play with numbers and small steps? Why not have quick and responsive feedback? But when there will be immediate feedback of scaling then e.g. I can scroll back by mouse or use the shortcut key without closing the dialog and losing the place. Even if I do not see the dialog itself then this setting point is still active and possible to change back if needed (result not suitable).
Thanks for the idea, Edmund. Set to New See Tools > Options > View > Scaling factor. NB: Need for another issue for a regression: - report that the scaling is not limited to values between 20 and 130 (was in older versions). Could you please do that? NB: Possibly another issue for an enhancement: - if you want some feed back after setting the scaling, e.g. a popup: do you want to keep the new settings Yes/No. Personally I think the issue for the regression is important. thanks, Cor
Hi Cor +1 about the regression (In reply to Edmund Laugasson from comment #0) > Currently the only quick workaround seems to be delete user profile Meanwhile, a less radical solution would be to change the value of "FontScaling" setting in the registrymodifications.xcu file (located user profile). Less radical but no user friendly... Regards Pierre-Yves

Now we can close it as WONTFIX because scale for LibreOffice GUI was removed
