There is no keyboard shortcut for generating footnotes. One has to stop, grab the mouse, go up to Insert, go down to footnote/endnote and then click to get the window to open and then, yet more, click to create the space for the footnote in the document. Very tedious and unnecessary. I used Open Office for many years on my laptop with XP. It had a keyboard method for inserting footnotes that was easy to use. I now have a Mac.

I write many documents that are heavily footnoted, sometimes in the hundreds. Having to stop and peck with the mouse rather than zip zip on the keyboard to create a footnote is a major inconvenience.

Thank you

Bless Your Heart,
Robert

@Robert: you can configure your ownkeyboard shortcut via Tools > Customise and assign a keyboard shortcut

e.g. Alt-Fn-F1 on my Apple Mac bluetooth keyboard works just fine
