You have reintroduced a nuisance which you had fixed several years ago. If the user presses Alt-F, S redundantly (i.e. when the file has not been changed), the file menu appears with the "Save" option disabled, and the user must press ESC to return to the document. As I argued previously, and as you agreed previously, it makes no sense to penalize the user for such a redundant save. The right thing is simply to return the user to the document without requiring the additional ESC key-stroke. You fixed this once, please fix it again.
In what version was this fixed?
(In reply to Beluga from comment #1) > In what version was this fixed? It's been fixed for years (two at least). 4.4.3.2 is the first time it's resurfaced.

Tried with: Version 4.0.0.3, Version: 4.1.0.4, Version: 4.2.8.2 On Ubuntu. None of them have the closing behavior you describe. If you want to investigate yourself, you can download this handy Windows software that lets you easily do parallel installations of older versions http://tdf.io/siguiexe Here you can see the version timeline: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan
Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> General: Document Status, Allow to save document even when the document is not modified. Windows Vista 64 Version: 4.4.3.2 Build ID: 88805f81e9fe61362df02b9941de8e38a9b5fd16 Changed to RESOLVED WORKSFORME.
Created attachment 116493 [details] Shows "Save" disabled on the Writer File menu.
This should not be marked RESOLVED. The attached .png shows "Save" disabled on the Writer File Menu. This should never happen as it then requires an extra keystroke to return to the document.
Does that setting not work for you? Have you tried resetting your profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) by renaming the folder?

The only behavior since 5.1 is to always allow saving, thus this situation cannot occur anymore, and the report is now closed as INVALID.
