Update Style (.uno:StyleUpdateByExample) and New Style (.uno:StyleNewByExample) commands are located in the menu bar (Format > Styles) but instead of executing, they simply open or close the sidebar's styles and formatting tab. These same functions are located in the styles and formatting tab and clicking them there works.

Not reproduced. Menu has been moved to Styles.

Argh, looked at Writer, even though report was for Calc.
Reproduced.

@bubli, @samuel: You think this is something easy to fix, as these buttons will be prominently shown in the sidebar once the style content panel is added ( https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/18176 ).

Maxim Monastirsky committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

It will be available in 5.1.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
