When trying to format a lot of cells like "date, the paintbrush doesn't always work. The same appears as I try to use French language, which is not taken into consideration to the next cells ("money : "euros, french) It happens the same as I close after saving and reopen the spreadsheet : no more formatting ! It has gone again on "english(usa)" Even more it seems to be random behavior...
Please, could you test with newer version? Setting bug as needinfo, set as unconfirmed again if problem still occurs in newer version. Thank you. http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
I have to confirm what I reported, even with the newer version (4,4,4 under OS X 10.9). I noticed again that french money (euros) is not taken into account after language settings in preferences and relauching the app. I had to return to format and set again to french / money : euros. At this time, again using the paintbrush to format another cell from a "good" (money format) one, paintbrush isn't efficient, I mean it has no effect on the target cell. Here's a description of what I do to get a number on a new cell as "euros" formatted: 1-cancelling "direct format" from the sub menu in the cell (because it has another strange behavior if not: see after) 2-entering number using the keyboard "dot" (not from the numeric keyboard one) 3-using tag $ to make te number appear as money value, but it still remains in dollars 4-using sub-menu and format cell (use english as default) and set it to "euros" and "france" if not using step 1: 2- entering number using the numeric keyboard "dot" 3-toggleing on "money format" ( upper menu) doesn't do anything BUT the toggle is "on" 4- using mouse sub menu "formatting :again in english (usa) dollars but nothing appears in the cell but the number as it was....
@Marc: what system OS lang/locale are you using ? what locale settings are you using generally within LibreOffice ? are you using the FR langpack ?

@Marc: OSX 10.5.9 or OSX 10.9.5 ?? If you are running LO on 10.5.9, then you are using an officially unsupported version of LibreOffice - the Leopard builds are specific to that version of OSX, so it is unlikely that errors in that will get fixed (unless the guy building for Leopard manages to do so). If you are running LO on OSX 10.9.5, then we would need to find someone from QA running it as well. All of my machines are 10.10.x
