Couldn't it be helpful to have more textfields for saving userdata (extra/options/libreoffice/userdata). When working with libreoffice in government sometimes the textfields for name, telephone etc. are not enough. More fields with the possibility for the user to name the fields would be nice. I think there is still enough space for placing 4 or more fields under those who are already used.
You can find this options in the file properties. Menu/File/Properties/Custom properties. I think you can set up the default or other templates with the needed fields. Resolved as worksforme, please if you are not agree reopen it.
I hit this limitation, too: its not possible to use custom fields where the values are read from the user (or global) config file. defining it in a template or per file doesn't really help here as the use value for the variable can't be set without changing a document. in other words, it should be possible to set a custom variable in config: <item oor:path="/org.openoffice.UserProfile/Data"><prop oor:name="mycustomvar" oor:op="fuse"><value>EDV-Organisation</value></prop></item> and this variable should be set when the variable is used in a document.
Please @spam, can you open a new bug as request for enhancement, this is not a bug, and not the same matter, if I'm not wrong what you want are variables configurable freely.
