In customizing Writer 5.0.5, "to next sentence" does not work when mapped to keyboard shortcut Alt+Right. Similarly, Alt+Left does not fire "to previous sentence". But Alt+Shift+Right(Left) does work for "select to next(previous) sentence".
which Linux distro and version do you use?
I'm on LinuxLite 2.4 x64. It is based on ubuntu 14.04, Trusty Thar. Running on an Intel Core2Duo processor.
On Windows 7 sp1 64-bit en-US with Version: 5.0.1.1 (x64) Build ID: 13f702ca819ea5b9f8605782c852d5bb513b3891 Locale: en-US (en_US) In Writer, Tools -> Customize, Keyboard tab with "Writer" radio button Select the Alt+Left shortcut Function set to Navigate, and Function "To Previous Sentence", modify to set. repeat for Alt+Right shortcut setting function "To Next Sentence". Exit Writer, exit LibreOffice. Reopen, open Writer and check Tools -> Customize shortcuts show as set. Open multi-paragraph multiple sentence document. Alt+Right/Alt+Left do not advance or back over sentences. No difference if using left-Alt or right-Alt, or cursor keys or number keypad. Likewise if set the shortcut global using the "LibreOffice" radio button on Tools -> Customize the shortcut has no action. Cursor always moves 1 character in either direction. So, are the "To Next Sentence" "To Previous Sentence" actually implemented as movements within paragraphs?
I haven't tested the two functions with different hotkeys. But the closely related "Select forward/backward to next/previous sentence" functions work with the hotkeys Alt-Shift-Right/Left.
reproduced either on Linux or Windows hardware --> ALL
In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #3) > So, are the "To Next Sentence" "To Previous Sentence" actually implemented > as movements within paragraphs? Nope seems they can be assigned and function, assigned <Alt>+<Shift>+Left and <Alt>+<Shift>+Right respectively and they function as expected. So, it is just the specific use of <Alt>+Left and <Alt>+Right that are not taking a short cut assignment. Somehow reserved by OS or maybe LO edit engine?
I can say that Ctrl-Alt-left/right are reserved by LinuxLite to switch desktops, and this occurs no matter what application one is in, but I haven't seen any such system function attached to Alt-left/right
