Description j.bengui4 2015-08-16 17:10:52 UTC
I often edit documents in a language that is not included in the language list (in this case : the Arpitan language). It is a language with considerable speakers (>100 000). It does not seem possible to add this language to the list of possible languages, which hinders defining specific language styles. Could it be added to the list of languages?

Do you mean Arpitan = francoprovençal ?

@j.bengui4:
Note that you can enter a valid language tag in the Language combo box edit field of the character attribution (Font tab). Would that be sufficient?
The language tag for Arpitan would be 'frp' or 'frp-FR' if specific to France or 'frp-IT' if specific to Italy.

Yes, that works fine. But since it exists, could it not be added to the list?

The name "Francoprovençal" can be misleading (a mix of French and Occitan is what most people think), so "Arpitan" is a better choice. The English Wikipedia article makes a mistake in using a hyphen, it is an incorrect spelling.

I just want to avoid to clutter the list.. but if Arpitan is widely and actively used (at least in parts of Italy it seems to be an official language) I can add it.

That's perfect thanks.

I don't want to be a pain, but Arpitan is also used in Switzerland. Should it not be added as a possible country as well?
