Hi,

This enhancement request comes from the discussion on #84548.

When working on a label document using the "Synchronize" option, you can only modify the first label by default (regardless if it is before or after the merge) because others are "protected".

Unfortunately this is often very annoying, because there are almost always a few labels that you have to modify manually.

I recently learned (thanks Cor Nouws !) that it is possible to disable this protection in Tools > Options > Writer > Formatting aids > Ignore protection.

I suggest that :
 - protection should be disabled by default when working on labels, because I don't think this is an usually wanted feature (Cor Nouws thinks in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84548#c14 that it should be more specific to merged labels).
 - this protection (regardless it is finally enabled or not) should be briefly documented in the same place than the label documentation (maybe here https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Writer/011)

Regards,
Yvan

This is still the case in LO Writer 7.1.8.1 on Mac.

I think this would be simple to implement and would greatly improve the UX for those of us that use the labels functionality a lot.

"Protected Areas - Ignore protection" was really there shortly up to LO 5.2.
