Confirmed. Clicking the 'Legend On/Off' button in the toolbar will add the check in the checkbox again, but wont enable the checkbox. The sidebar panel on the screenshot looks odd -- I see only checkbox there, but it should also have 'Enable legend' label. Is it possible it's overlaping with the other two widgets (combobox + its label), rendering the label invisible? Also, I can't confirm on Linux + KDE4. Gtk-only then? Can someone try on Windows?
Markus Mohrhard committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=8f2db5dc927df9b0d8c38eec76a4232c9ff4ca8f don't put the checkbox into the HBox, tdf#94870 It will be available in 5.1.0. The patch should be included in the daily builds available at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours.
