All Word documents I import show no word count on the bottom of the window NOR if one goes to Tools==>Word Cout. The only way to get a word count is to 'select all' or select some portion and then it displays that information correctly. This is a bug, but not a serious one. It seems to me that the new ver 5 of LibreOffice Writer has problems with Word files, as several features don't work correctly [and as they did in the previous versions].
