Description Brian 2015-10-29 13:21:53 UTC
Both 5.02.2 and its predecessor 5.0.1.2 are extremely slow to calculate, edit and filter. Copying a formula to a new location usually has to be saved before it will function. Edits will only take effect when the sheet is scrolled up or down and moving to a new filter setting in auto filter after an edit appears to be impossible. I had hoped that 5.0.2.2. would be an improvement on 5.0.1.2 but the filtering and editing problems seem to have been added to the copy formula problems. There is also a tendency to crash on attempting to save after editing using autofilter.

Please attach a document that demonstrates the issue.

Setting to NEEDINFO - once you attach please set to UNCONFIRMED.

Setting version to 5.0.1.2 as version field is oldest version affected not latest.

Pasting the description from the file here:

I use Calc particularly for editing material for the Sussex Family History Group Baptism Index (1539 - 1900, 1.6M entries). The two worksheets illustrate the changes that I make to material supplied to me by a sister organisation, The Parish Register Transcription Society.

In the Demo_Original sheet there are four formulae in the cells J2..M2. J2 shows a resultant. If these are copied down I find nothing appears until I save the file, close it and reopen it. Ideally I like to copy down, leave highlighted and use the relatively new function convert to values, which is a great asset.

Another technique that I use at a subsequent stage is to highlight and copy a row, insert a row above and paste the original, editing one version to show variations from different sources. The copied row only appears when the page is scrolled up or down. Drag and drop copying usually works on the first instance but if I quickly drag the same information, as copy, to a third location it takes some time to appear, unless I scroll.

Auto-filter is on in the Demo_finished sheet. Try selecting a value to filter, editing the value and then selecting all in the auto-filter menu. It refuses to co-operate.

-------------

I had no problem with filling down J2:M2. Didn't have to reopen.

I did notice some lag with the autofilter steps after doing it a couple of times. I also confirm that after editing any value or string while having filtered, I have to scroll away and back to see the change.

I saved several times after edits, but could not make it crash.
For the crash, a new report should be opened and a backtrace obtained: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg

I could not find a duplicate for the autofilter issue. Let's make this report be about that one in particular (one issue per report).

Thanks for taking it on board. I will keep an eye on the issues and raise them individually if they continue to be a problem.

Can people involved here maybe please test a recent daily build
  http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/
because of the fix for bug 91307
(to be backported to 5.0 and 5.1 hopefully)

Thanks!

Now using 5.0.4.2 and the problem appears to be resolved. Thanks.
