non-breaking space cannot inserted.  

"ctrl +shift +space bar" inserts nothing

For me not reproducible with LO 5.0.3.2, Win 8.1.

Do you still have this issue with a new document?
Do you also have the opportunity to test it with a more recent version of LO?

just re-installed but "ctrl shift spacebar" still doesn't work.  I am on
xubuntu-linux

but "alt insert formattingmark" works (always worked?) !  :)

Thanks for your very fast reply.

Could you test resp. do you have the opportunity to test it with a new version of LO?  LO 4.2 has reached End of Life status (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.2).
Do you maybe have a friend who has also LO with another LO version to test it on his/here PC?

But maybe this is a Linux only issue.  And maybe somebody else with LO 4.2 and Linux can reproduce/confirm it.  I can only test on Win 8.1.
