Description gmarco 2015-11-29 18:19:35 UTC
Testing the function CONVERTI (CONVERT in EN) I have found that any combination of topics other than a currency conversion gives as result #N/D
MS Excel function converts between different unit types using special topics (as: "yr" "day" "hr" "sec" "yd" "ft") and, for example, = CONVERT (68;"F";"C") converts from Fahrenheit to Celsius giving 20°C.
Also the LO help says: "Converts a value from one unit of measurement to another unit of measurement. The conversion factors are given in a list in the configuration." and here I also don't understand what it means "The conversion factors are given in a list in the configuration."

Hi gmarco, thanks for reporting.

I think you are looking for the CONVERT_ADD() functions, I think CONVERT() is only for currencies.

Please take a look:
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/20814/calc-convert-function/

Resolved as not a bug, please if you are not agree, reopen it.

Thanks, now I know, I can say "you are wright".
But in MS Excel there is only the CONVERTI function (an engineering function "per convertire un numero da un sistema di unità di misura ad un altro" (that is " to convert a number from a system of measurement units to another"), in LO searching into help about "conversione" I can find only ...(see the attachment) and that one refers to Writer, searching otherway about "CONVERTI" I found nothing but ... (see the attachment): it seems the same Excel function and the help too says "Converte un valore da un'unità di misura a un'altra unità di misura" (that is "Convert a value from one unit of measurement to another unit of measurement").
No one reference to other similar functions.
That's all, many thanks anyway.

thanks, anyway

Apology, you're right.

Please could you do a new report for that so I can confirm it.

Hi, I am doing
but a question still: only now I note the existence of the bug 69539 and, stated that CONVERT is only for currencies, why that bug is in a assigned status since 2013_12-02 ?

I haven't an answer, except go to the bug, and ask there about.
