text document demonstrating the problem

Steps to reproduce:
1/ open the attached bugdoc with LibreOffice 5.1.0.1.0+
2/ move the cursor at the end of the paragraph highlighted in yellow
3/ remove the dot and add another dot so that the file has been modified by you
4/ do not move the cursor anymore and save the file (ctrl+S)
5/ close the file (ctrl+W)
6/ reopen the file, do not click and observe that you do not see the cursor blinking at the end of the highlighted paragraph
7/ press one time the down arrow key: the view jump to the beginning of the 4th chapter (Chapitre quatrième). If you close and reopen the file, you can check that the cursor was on the last line of the third chapter.
8/ remove both tables and redo steps 2 to 5, reopen the file: you can see the cursor blinking at the end of the highlighted paragraph.

No problem with LO 5.0.x.

Best regards. JBF

Hi,

On Win7/x86 with LO 5.1.0.1, I reproduce the step 6.

Step 7 : If I press the down arrow key, the view remains on the same page but the cursor is always hidden After any operation in the menus, for example, the cursor reappears: it is on the next line but not exactly at the same horizontal position (some characters before) where it was supposed to be on the previous line.

Regards,
Bernard

I tested it with LO 5.1.0.1, Win 8.1.

In step 6 my cursor is blinking in the top left of page 1 and if I press the arrow down key the cursor goes to the second line of page 1.
Comment 4 Buovjaga 2015-12-26 17:53:29 UTC
On step 6, I find myself at the beginning of the document. Pressing down arrow just brings me to the next line in the ToC.

What's the expected behavior? I get the same result as described by Andy and Buovjaga. Does the bug still occur?
Comment 6 Thomas Hackert 2017-03-01 16:47:40 UTC
Hello Jean-Baptiste, *,
thank you very much for reporting this bug :) I cannot - however - reproduce it with

OS: Debian Testing AMD64
LO: Version: 5.2.6.1
Build-ID: e37e437cb0cfa0eab9d2e98a23f5074ae118d3df
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.5; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

nor with

LO: Version: 5.3.1.1
Build-ID: 72fee18f394a980128dc111963f2eefb05998eeb
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.5; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2; Layout-Engine: neu;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group
(both parallel installed, following the instructions from https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel/Linux)

, sorry ... :( Would you be so kind to test it with a newer version than 5.1.0.1rc, please? Maybe it is fixed in the meantime ... ;)
TIA
Thomas.

Setting to NEEDINFO until information requested in comment 6 is provided
Comment 8 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2017-03-03 05:37:55 UTC
I do not reproduce the problem anymore with LO 5.2.7.0.0+ and LO 5.3.2.0.0+.

But in the master, on reopening the document, the cursor is positioned several (~10) characters before the correct position or at the start of the line. But this problem is a another one because it does not depend on the presence of tables in the document. I will open a new bug report for this new problem if I can determine the conditions to reproduce the bug.

In the meantime, closing the current bug report as WorksForMe.

Best regards. JBF
