Description burnuser2 2015-12-25 10:32:17 UTC
In Excel you have "Paste special" as an option of the "Paste" icon an "Paste: only numbers" as a selectable icon for the toolbar.

To ease the work with "Paste special" please:

1.) Define an (selectable) Icon "Paste special" for the main toolbar
or at least make "Paste special" available as option in the regular Paste icon (as in Excel)

2.) Make available the "Only Numbers" icon (which is already used in the paste special dialog) in the toolbar too.

Already possible. Under Tools->Customize...->Toolbars, click on "Add..", switch to Edit category, and choose "Paste Only Value". This command is also there in the cell's right-click context menu.

Thank You Maxim, the context menu works.
(And the Paste icon => option "unformatted text" works too. But is not obvious as a substitute for "Only Value")

But as icon:
I have tried the toolbar customizing (even before filing the bug) and in my list of customize commands (LO 5.0.3.2 - German version) there is a command "Special paste" and a scond "Special paste (only Calc)" - both with same effect and without icon. And nothing else.
(No command or icon "Paste Only Value" to find.)

Maybe it's wrongly translated? You could try other commands in the Edit category, to find which one is the one. It doesn't necessarily have the word "Paste" in it.

I have tried a lot of commands and searched in all categories.
But no such command or icon to find.

I have checked this with LO 5.1.0.1 (Win 8.1, with English UI) and I could find the toolbar command "Paste Only Value" as mentioned by Maxim (TOOLS -> CUSTOMISE -> tab TOOLBARS -> button ADD... -> Category = EDIT -> Commands = PASTE ONLY VALUE). But I can find only in the English UI and I confirm that it is not there in the German UI which is really strange, because there should be no difference (in German: EXTRAS -> ANPASSEN -> tab SYMBOLLEISTEN -> button/Schaltfläche HINZUFÜGEN... -> section/Bereich = BEARBEITEN -> there are only "Einfügemodus" ("Insert Mode"), "Einfügen" ("Paste"), "Inhalte einfügen" ("Paste content") and "Inhalte einfügen (nur Calc)" ("Paste content (Calc only)").
But in the English UI the Paste Only Value command has no predefined icon in the list as you can find it in the Paste Special dialog box (right mouse click -> PASTE SPECIAL... -> icon in the top left) and I would expect it should have the same icon as in Paste Special?
Moreover, the Paste Special command has no predefined icon (TOOLS -> CUSTOMISE -> tab TOOLBARS -> button ADD... -> Category = EDIT -> Commands = PASTE SPECIAL).
Furthermore, I have in the Commands list in the Customise dialog box (TOOLS -> CUSTOMISE -> tab TOOLBARS -> button ADD -> Category = EDIT) two "Paste Special" entries, one with a description and one without.
From my point of view all these issues should be improved.

Furthermore, I have the following issue in the Tango, Oxygen and Galaxy icon sets. I think the differences between the "Values Only" and "Values and Formats" icons should be more clearly.

In addition, I am not sure what is the difference between "Values Only" as in the Paste Special dialog box (right mouse click -> PASTE SPECIAL... -> icon in the top left) and "Number" as in the normal Paste Only context menu (right mouse click -> PASTE ONLY -> NUMBER). Is there a difference? If not, it should be harmonised to one notation.

Paste special is accessible, clicking on the arrow of the Paste button.
Comment 7 burnuser2 2015-12-27 12:09:10 UTC
The arrow of the Paste button shows a lot of options, but Paste special is not among them.
But yes, it should be there!

Bug is (partly) still present.

Solved:
1.a) "Paste special" now has an Icon (calc only), which can be added to the toolbar.

Unresolved:
1.b) Paste special is still not available as option in the regular Paste icon (clicking the arrow)

2.) "Only Numbers" icon (which is already used in the paste special dialog) still can not be added to the toolbar

Current condition:

1. Paste Special has already present in Calc's right click menu regardless any content of the clipboard. Each command also received complete icon.

2. Little arrow for drop-down in Paste command of standard toolbar is content aware of the content of the clipboard, so it just showing what's relevant

I don't know which coherence solution to approach, but the paste option in the standard toolbar gives more variant even when I copy one active cell containing the number '1'.
