Created attachment 121766 [details] Two screenshots of Writer window bottom bar See attached edited screen shot pair of Writer's window bottom during search. When searched text is in base matter (text), the upper version of the bottom bar of the Writer window is shown. When the searched text is inside a table, the lower version is shown. What is most annoying is that the search forward/backwards buttons (and whole line of buttons) move up when the previous found item is in the base matter, and next one is inside a table. Keep Clicking on the "next" button and suddenly you hit this context tool. Enhancement: Make sure the search box and associated buttons stay in same place all the time, and context specific e.g. table tools appear ABOVE it, or somewhere else that does not cause similar clicked target movements as is done currently.
Created attachment 121801 [details] File with a table and text
I confirm this on Libreoffice 5.1.0.1 Linux. It's a usability issue. How to reproduce: 1. Search for "Lorem ipsum" in the attached file which has this text in both in a table and outside it. 2. You will notice the table bar jumping and changing the position of the search bar. That will prevent the user from clicking "next" because the bar have been moved.
On libreoffice version 5.4.7.2 the default seem to be adding e.g. table context buttons on same graphical division as the search button is. But table buttons array of icons is longer than fits on the end of the division without providing extension button ( ">>" ). Moving the array above search field appears to be persistent in between activations of libreoffice writer.
Thanks for retesting with the latest version. Setting to RESOLVED WORKSFORME as the commit fixing this issue hasn't been identified.
