Description peterwoelfel 2016-02-14 19:22:00 UTC
If i save a new document (save as …)libreoffice crashs (Mac OS X beachball of death). I found this is only the case, if the finder elements let down in the dialog window (shows the finder elements) or in the document folder of the user are aliases/links to files or folders. The open dialog works fine. There is only a problem with saving files. I tried to change the path of the working folder in the preferences as workaround. But this change is not going with the save dialog. It works only in the open window.

Could you try getting some more info about the crash: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#Mac_OSX:_How_to_get_debug_information

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have tried it.

For the test could you upgrade to last stable LO version (5.1.3) + rename your LO directory profile? (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Mac_OS_X)

No repro with

Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+

CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Mac OS X 10.11.6; UI Render: default;
Locale: fr-FR (fr.UTF-8); Calc: group

1) Started LibreOffice
2) Opened new Writer document
3) Typed a line of text
4) File > Save
4) Saved to Documents folder via an alias on my Desktop
5) Document saved, no crash.

No crash on

Version: 5.1.5.2
Build ID: 7a864d8825610a8c07cfc3bc01dd4fce6a9447e5
CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Mac OS X 10.11.6; UI Render: default;

As the 5.0.x line is EOL, closing this report as WFM.

I also created a new folder on my Desktop, then created an alias of that folder in my Documents folder, and tried saving a new Writer document to that alias - no crash.

After a certain time i tested the save function again (with alias folders in the document folder) i see it works fine. It is very funny. I think it seems to be fixed and solved in an newer version of LibreOffice (in my case 5.1.4.2).

Thanks for your help!
