Description Andrew 2016-02-24 06:49:36 UTC
On Windows you needed just do this steps:
1. Right click on desktop or other appropriate place.
2. Select "Create"->"Microsoft Word document".
 Resulting document may be different in dependency of LibreOffice version.
3. Open file in LibreOffice, edit and save it.
4. If you try to open resulting file in MS Word, you get unexpected result.

Result is different in dependency of LibreOffice version. When resulting file have .docx format, MS Word can't open it. When resulting file have .doc format, it may be cutted or misformatted or both.
The .docx can be opened with WPS Office or OpenOffice but misformated.
When you do "Save as..." or "Save copy..." - file will opened as expected.

I tried on a computer with MSO 2013.
The right-click context menu entry is MSO's I assume (?).

I opened the docx in LibO and when I saved, it said:
This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in the currently selected file format “Text”.

After saving, it turns really into something other than docx - it cannot be opened as .zip anymore.

DOCX created with MSO right-click explorer context menu

Try saving this in LibO and it will mess up.

I had to zip it up, because Bugzilla refused to accept the plain DOCX: "The file you are trying to attach is empty, does not exist, or you don't have permission to read it."

Yep, I had to zip it to be able to upload it! That is how it is created from right-click menu.

I just tested this case on another computer. This computer create .DOCX in difference of my computer (my computer has created .DOC). This .DOCX has also zero length.
