Description jenarin22622 2016-04-11 03:16:27 UTC
I have written long articles with my LibreOffice, and have them saved. However, since yesterday, my LibreOffice Writer hangs (freezes) almost as soon as I open it.

I've thought of uninstalling and re-installing LibreOffice 5.+ (latest), but I'm afraid to lose all the material I have saved; and not be able to recuperate with the new installation.

Please advise. Thank you,

Jerry Vazquez

try opening that file with the portable release you can find here.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

if the portable version works fine it means you probably have a corrupted user profile

so you may try resetting it following instructions here:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

let me know if this fixes your issues

Windows 7.

When I start up LibreOffice it works fine. I can use any of the File Tools Help menus. But as soon as I click on any of the Create choices it freezes. Or when I try to open a file.

No way to shut it down except to use Task Manager.

LibreOffice has never worked for me. I installed it because I started getting the same problem with OpenOffice both 4.0.1 and 4.1.1 a couple of days ago. Previously I had been using OO for many years without problems.

I have already tried deleting the profile but it makes no difference.
