I just experienced an unfortunate series of events with 5.0.5.2 of LibreOffice which resulted in a serious amount of LOST WORK. I'll omit expletives. First of all, please fix the "quit" option for the Mac OS X release. This is really, really annoying and causes problems like this to happen. If I had a "confirm" dialog available, this would have been mitigated. The application locked up while trying to save four (4) documents, after I accidentally selected CMD-Q (quit) vs CMD-W (close window) (see above problem). I had to force the application to quit after about 10 minutes where it was obviously not going to complete. Restarting LibreOffice, starting the Recovery Mode failed due to $(ARG1) being undefined for the three "untitled 1" documents. One of them was a really long report I had been working on the entire day, and now it's apparently gone. 1) The Quit confirm dialog needs to be implemented 2) There is a bug where when trying to save unnamed documents, the application locks up in 5.0.5.2
Please, 1 bug per bugtracker because it can be quickly confusing to follow the state. 2 things you can try: 1) Upgrade to last stable version 5.1.2 2) Rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Mac_OS_X) Have in mind that whatever the office suite you use, make backups according to your rythm of work.
LO 5.1.2.2 Windows 7 Save Autorecovery set to 1 minute Had untitled document (for a couple hours before the crash). LO crash (with insert object). Seven (7) "Untitled" files were recovered, all of them empty. (even though there was only one (1) untitled document). (checked in the \LibreOffice\4\user\backup, but nothing)
(In reply to sdc.blanco from comment #2) > LO 5.1.2.2 Windows 7 > Save Autorecovery set to 1 minute > Had untitled document (for a couple hours before the crash). > LO crash (with insert object). > Seven (7) "Untitled" files were recovered, all of them empty. (even though > there was only one (1) untitled document). > (checked in the \LibreOffice\4\user\backup, but nothing) Please don't hijack this bugtracker which already must be cleaned up to contain only 1 bug. As said in my previous comment, 1 bug per bugtracker because it can be quickly confusing to follow the state.
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.4.1 or 5.3.6 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
