OK, I now installed gdb and created new logs. I am sorry if the information is redundant, I am no coder :-)

Can't reproduce with recent master - crash is not in splashscreen, but in sidebar init code. Any default application or document you get opened? Any other config, like installed personas etc?

OpenGL is on, config:

direct rendering: Yes
    GLX_MESA_multithread_makecurrent, GLX_MESA_query_renderer,
    GLX_MESA_multithread_makecurrent, GLX_MESA_query_renderer,
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.42.0, LLVM 3.7.0)
    GL_ARB_conditional_render_inverted, GL_ARB_conservative_depth,
    GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_depth_clamp, GL_NV_packed_depth_stencil,
    GL_ARB_conditional_render_inverted, GL_ARB_conservative_depth,
    GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_depth_clamp, GL_NV_fog_distance,
    GL_OES_fbo_render_mipmap, GL_OES_get_program_binary, GL_OES_mapbuffer,

(In reply to Linus from comment #5)

With an empty document, after turning on OpenGL and restarting, LibreOffice will invariably crash. Also I didn't install any personas or played around with other settings (originally I installed the alpha build only to see if bug 99516 was resolved there or not).

For the moment I don't have access to the affected system. I will try to provide a valgrind log in a couple of days.
Comment 7 tommy27 2016-10-07 21:52:06 UTC
is this bug still reproducible with latest LibO releases?
Comment 8 D 2016-10-08 11:34:54 UTC
No, it has indeed changed: LO now successfully restarts after switching to OpenGL mode, but there is crash when I go to Help>About.

Should I file this as a different bug?

Tested with LO 5.2.2.2.0 and 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ (master)
Comment 9 D 2016-10-08 13:30:35 UTC
I should add that since my last post I have reinstalled my system and I am currently on Debian Jessie (with some backports), not on testing any more.
