When selecting already typed out bulleted lists, and then using either the Bullets and Numbering toolbar bullet drop down selector or the sidebar bullet drop down selector to select a new bullet type, causes an immediate crash. This is reproducible every time by simply attempting to select a new bullet type. Libreoffice Writer does not crash when you go to the Format, then Bullets and Numbering menu.
Summary: I was not able to replicate this bug. I used version 5.1.3.2 on Windows 10. When trying to change the bullet type for a bullet point or numbered list using the bullet button on the toolbar, LibreOffice writer is supposed to crash, but mine did not. Since the report says the version is 5.0.6.2, maybe this was fixed since then? Or maybe a corrupted file? Steps: 1. Open a new LibreOffice Writer document 2. Press the bullet button on the toolbar to make a bullet point (or shift+F12) 3. Write a sentence after the bullet point 4. Next to the bullet point button on the toolbar, press the down arrow to open a drop down menu and choose a different Bullet style. Expected result: The bullet point's format changes Actual Result: The bullet point's format changes
Thomas: as Theodore was not able to repro in 5.1.3, maybe you should try this newer version. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away. If it still crashes with 5.1.3, you can try to get more info: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information
I have upgraded to version 5.1.3, and the bug no longer exists. The bullet formatting works as expected and changing bullets no longer causes a crash. I have changed the status to resolved and worksforme. Fix: Upgrade from 5.0.6.2 to 5.1.3

So it seems I spoke to soon, as the bug has reappeared. The file I am working on is quite long at 266 pages, 77,799 words, and 487,008 characters. I am wondering if this has something to do with it. Another odd thing that I noticed is that originally when I had updated to 5.1.3.2:Fedora24 version, I could change the bullet formatting with the toolbars just fine, with no crash. Now, after some editing of the original large file I am getting the crash again. On top of that, new files with random bulleted lists, also crash when I attempt to change the size of the bullet via dropdown toolbar menus. Steps: 1. Open a pre-existing LibreOffice Writer document or create a new LibreOffice Writer document. 2. Click on a bullet point or create a new bulleted list. 3. Using the Bullets On/Off button on the toolbar, a new bullet style is selected. 4. Immediate crash, and document recovery prompt appears. Expected Result: The bullet point format changes Actual Result: LibreOffice crashes I have attached a backtrace.
FWIW, I started having these problems as well on Fedora 23 (Version: 5.0.6.2, Build ID: 5.0.6.2-4.fc2). Crash occurs when creating bullet list as well as with creating a numbered list. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open LibreOffice Writer Document (new or existing one) 2. Press the down arrow on the Bullet/Numbered list button 3. Choose new bullet style, additional styles or just close the menu Expected results: Bullet point/Numbered list style changes/ Dialog pops up to edit styles Actual result: Immediate crash, recovery menu shows.
I can't make it crash myself, but setting to NEW.
