Description am_dxer 2016-07-19 17:38:47 UTC
When moving through the interface, of Libreoffice using f6, NVDA announces most of the toolbars and menus. When the focus lands on the sidebar, nothing is spoken. Something should be announced so that users know which part of the interface has gained focus.
Comment 1 V Stuart Foote 2016-07-19 18:00:49 UTC
Confirmed.
Version: 5.2.0.1 (x64)
Build ID: fcbcb4963bda8633ba72bd2108ca1e802aad557d
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.19; UI Render: GL;
Locale: en-US (en_US)

But, not silent--rather it is unlabeled and responds as "Split Pane" and then announces the title of the currently active Content Panel in the Deck.

But, agree that announcing Sidebar for the event when navigating into the Sidbar frame (either the Deck or the Tab Bar) would be appropriate.

Could you test with master? I am finding that "split pane" is not announced until I press one of the arrow keys after the pane is focused. When using F6 only, nothing is spoken for me when focus lands on the pane.

On Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with NDVA 2016.2.1 and

Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+

Announce in this order -- F10 to go to main menu

cycling through default controls with F6

Start: File Submenu F
1. Standard Toolbar -> New dropdown button
2. Option pane ((remains unclear where this focus has gone))
3. Formatting Toolbar -> Apply Paragraph style option pane
4. Split Pane -> Properties Option Pane ((this is the Sidebar, landing could be another content panel depending on where it had been left as it is statefull in profile))
5. Title of document, document editable, and initial paragraph ((the Document canvas))
6. File Submenu F
Comment 4 am_dxer 2016-07-20 11:03:21 UTC
Hello, I am able to get NVDA to announce split pane sometimes, however, sometimes it does not depending on where I am focused in the sidebar. Try moving the LibreOfficeDev folder temporarily that is in %appdata% to start with a fresh profile next time you load it. NVDA reads nothing where the focus gets placed in a fresh profile when moving onto the sidebar.

Dear am_dxer,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
