When Starting LO or also when closing the last document I can see the start-center with previews of recent documents shown on the right side. Unfortunately the previews are so detailed that one can read the content of documents which I'd prefer to hide. Nevertheless I still like them to be in the dropdown-list of file menu (where no preview is shown, which is fine). So it would be a huge advantage for privacy to be able to turn off the preview section completely (which is also asked for some times in user's forum - without solution so far).

Setting the "GenerateThumbnail" value to false in expert configuration dialog accomplishes this. Tools -> Options -> Advanced: Expert configuration... and search for GenerateThumbnail click the Edit button to toggle the vlaue OK to exit the dialog, on restart the Thumbnails will be purged but the MRU will remain with default 25 entries. =-ref-= bug 61320 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0035b3218d8652652e62afe89eddfd28a9021b75 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 61320 ***
I've already have set this value to false. Nevertheless the previews are still visible on start-center (even if a file does not contain a thumb). I think we are talking about different things.
Sorry, the Expert configuration value to set is "RecentDocsThumbnail", that eliminates the thumbnails on the Start Center--replacing them with generic ODF icons. So gets the same behavior on the Thumbnail View pane as if a password was set for the document. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 74834 ***
From https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/20338/ for bug 74834 If Office::Common::History::RecentDocsThumbnail is set to false, no new thumbnails will be created and stored to registrymodifications.xcu. Existing thumbnails in registrymodifications.xcu or the documents will not be read and displayed.
thanks a lot it's not yet in 'still' version 5.1.6.2 so maybe I have to switch to Libre Office Fresh
