Description Callegar 2017-02-23 15:26:39 UTC
In LibO 5.3.1.1 I'm not able to enable opencl. The setting is automatically reset to false at every restart. The hardware has intel graphics and beignet 1.2 and should thus support some opencl.

Because LibO does a test to verify it's safe for use.

In any case software interpreter also gets a goof improvement
Comment 2 Callegar 2017-02-24 10:03:01 UTC
Quite reasonable, still a bit inconsistent with user expectations:

1) If something is unsafe, maybe it would be better to either: (i) test earlier for the unsafeness and gray out the option altogether; or (ii) to allow the user to set the option, keep the setting and provide a message like "OpenCL disallowed on this system";

2) On the same system, openCL seemed to work with previous LibO versions...

Thanks for looking into it.

You could verify if it's working with previous releases by installing a 5.2 version separately as described in [1].

In general I'm somewhat concerned there's no established way of getting details on what was tested and what the result was, as currently there's no way to tell whether LibreOffice or the OpenCL implementation is at fault.
