Description:
It's a little mind-boggling to me that this bug hasn't been filed yet, but I couldn't find it, so here it is.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a new Excel spreadsheet
2. Type 1, Enter, 2, Enter, 3, Enter
3. Copy those three cells to the clipboard
4. Ensure you can paste them in a regular text editor
5. Create a new Calc spreadsheet
6. Attempt to paste the cells *as text*. Paste Only -> Text / Number / Formula do nothing.

Actual Results:
Paste, and notice you've pasted an image.

Expected Results:
Text

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No - I've just installed LibreOffice.

Additional Info:
This is critical in migrating from Excel, because simply importing XLSM files brings a lot of cruft that slows down the sheet by an order of magnitude - See bug 100709.

I can not confirm with LO 6, Excel 2010, Win7. Paste only-> text/number/formula doesn't work, but ctrl+v works correctly.

Do you get the same result as Dan: "Paste, and notice you've pasted an image."
Meaning, I think, that an OLE object is pasted.

Testing with 6.1+ master in Windows, I have working Ctrl+V, Paste Unformatted Text, and some Paste special options: GDI, DDE, Unformatted text, DIF, Formatted text, HTML, Biff8, Excel worksheet). Wording is Bug 89453.
I don't have working Edit-Paste Only: Text/Number/Formula. And I guess they should work (couldn't find help for them, that's another doc bug). So I'll confirm with title change as minor issue. Adding Implementation error because they were introduced in 5.3.
Note: if testing, make sure you have only one LO version running. Otherwise options in Edit menu and right click are grayed/unavailable.

Confirmed. This bug currently exists with LibreOffice 7.0.3.1 (x64) on Windows 7.

All I want to do is paste a range of cells from Excel to Calc. This doesn't work in some cases. My version of Excel is Microsoft Excel 2000 (9.0.2720).

The cells in Excel that I am copying contain assorted numbers, text and formulas. I have also applied different kinds of formatting.

Below is what happened when I pasted an identical block of cells from Excel to Calc using various methods of pasting.

Note that the menus in Calc are a bit confusing. When you click "Paste Special" you get a sub menu with more choices. The choices in the sub menu sometimes lead to further dialog boxes. Other sub menu choices take effect immediately.

Confusingly one of the choices in the sub menu is "Paste Special" (again) which takes you to a further dialog box titled "Paste Special". So in effect you are selecting "Paste Special" three times in succession, so it could be thought of as "Paste extra extra special".

Results
========
Ordinary Paste (not special). Result as expected. Numbers, text, formulas and formatting are pasted as expected.

Paste using Ctrl+V. Result as expected. Same as ordinary paste above.

Paste Special > Paste Unformatted Text > Dialog "Text Import". Result as expected. Numbers are pasted as numbers. Text pasted as text. Formulas pasted as values. Formatting is not pasted.

Paste Special > Paste Only Text. Result: Broken. Nothing happens.

Paste Special > Paste Only Numbers. Result: Broken. Nothing happens.

Paste Special > Paste Only Formula. Result: Broken. Nothing happens.

Paste Special > Paste Special (again) > Dialog "Paste Special". Results as expected. Actual results vary according to the format selected. BIFF gives a full copy with formulas and formatting, DIF copies only values, DDE sets up links to values in the original sheet.

In summary, Paste Only Text, Paste Only Numbers and Paste Only Formula are all broken.
