In Calc I copy a very large amount of data to the clipboard. When I close the program, it closes but the process soffice.bin continues to run and run for more than 5 minutes during which time I can not relaunch the program. If I run C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c "echo off | clip" , this clears the clipboard and I can immediately relaunch the program. You might consider the option "You have a large amount on the clipboard. Would you like to clear it?"
@Mark Brown, Would be nice to know how http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/4.4.7.2/ performs at the same task you're describing. The older versions seems to be a lot faster (bug 108755)

The summary is a bit misleading, but I agree with the suggestion in comment 1. LibreOffice will keep running in the background after closing for quite a long time, if a large amount of data on the clipboard. And having the data on the clipboard is mostly by accident. An example 1. Open https://yadi.sk/i/rM9QctDym5y3M 2. Copy the columns A-C 3. Close Calc -> Back to Start Center 4. Close LibreOffice -> Notice that LibO will run for 12 seconds in the background before it closes So, "You have a large amount on the clipboard. Would you like to clear it?", , looks like a pretty obvious feature. @Buovjaga, an opinion on this?
same does MSO btw. definitively +1 from me
(In reply to Dennis Roczek from comment #4) > same does MSO btw. definitively +1 from me Ok, I believe you.

Bug 159272 has more illustrative of the sneaky aspect of the issue at hand: a 47 kb file causing 5 GB RAM spike with large range of data on the clipboard
(In reply to Telesto from comment #7) > Bug 159272 has more illustrative of the sneaky aspect of the issue at hand: > a 47 kb file causing 5 GB RAM spike with large range of data on the clipboard I came here from just randomly testing Bug #132132 (same exact document Telesto just mentioned/referenced/duplicated with Bug #159272). My RAM usage actually reached 7(!!!) GB—for 39 seconds after closing LO—when testing attachment 139120 [details]. - - - So yes... if this clipboard-stuck-in-memory is the root cause of the issue, then definitely sounds like a good idea to have that: - "You have a lot of stuff copied. Do you want to clear the clipboard?" warning on close. (I recall seeing similar popups in Word and a few other programs too.)
