Description Gisbert Juch 2018-01-20 16:20:55 UTC
Description:
If the user specific field "Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - Print - Fax" is empty and fax is sent via the "Fax send" button (LibreOffice button), then the sent fax document is empty although the user may assume the whole document is sent. The solution of the problem may be, that the LibreOffice action "Fax send" checks the mentioned field. If this field is empty, then the action should be prevented to transmit the control to the fax process of the operating system (f.i. Windows 7) and a suitable message should appear.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a Writer document.
2. Clear the user options field "Fax Printer".
3. Send the document via the "Fax send" button.

Actual Results:
The fax process of the operating system (f.i Windows 7) gets control and sends an empty fax.

Expected Results:
The action "Fax send" should be cancelled.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Comment 1 Gisbert Juch 2018-01-20 17:50:34 UTC
The User Profile was not reset actually. But the user gets no information that this would be required, because he assumes, the fax is sent. (He has no other information.)
Comment 2 Franklin Schiftan 2018-01-23 19:18:43 UTC
Now I get the desired error message (see attachment) even if there is no fax printer set in the options, which hadn't come before.

Comment 4 Gisbert Juch 2018-01-24 09:46:30 UTC
O.K., but please see my Comment1. I can confirm it for a virgin user options area.
Comment 5 Gisbert Juch 2018-01-24 12:26:36 UTC
Please don't misunderstand my last comment. This should be more clearly: I can confirm the appearing of the correct message by using a virgin user option area.

Similar to bug 114981.
LO doesn't have "Fax send" button by default. There's "Send default fax" button that can be added to toolbar.
If "Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - Print - Fax" is empty, fax cannot be sent, it gives the warning.
Similar, File-Print-Fax opens fax configuration dialog is not present.
Cannot reproduce and looks Invalid. Please clarify.
Comment 7 Gisbert Juch 2018-01-26 09:23:58 UTC
Please see comments 1, 4 & 5.
Comment 8 Gisbert Juch 2018-01-26 09:41:27 UTC
And please look at Bug 114981.
Comment 9 Buovjaga 2018-02-15 20:13:04 UTC
Gisbert: please try Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode without doing anything else. Maybe after that you will get the same result as Franklin.
Comment 10 Gisbert Juch 2018-02-16 02:10:54 UTC
Buoviaga: I've installed the 6.0.1 version.
But it seems that the Fax-field in Tools-Options-LibreOffice Writer remains like it is set previously. This is in standard mode and in save mode. That means, now it is not depending on the template or document as described in bug 114981, comment 7. May it be the failure is repaired in 6.0.1? I get in all cases the correct message that the Fax would be not defined.

Ah, great news, then. Let's close.
