Description john 2018-04-11 00:16:32 UTC
Description:
Certain equations created in MS Word 2013 have inverted red question marks when the docx file is opened in Libre Writer.

Steps to Reproduce:
I created an equation in ms word, and when I open the document in libre, the formula is missing a part and a red inverted question mark is there in its place. when checking the equation in the equation editor, it gives me this:

ml of solution left ({1L} over {1000ml} right ) left ({mol  of Solute  } over {1L} right ) left ({1mol  {H} rsub {2} {PO} rsub {4} rsup {-}  } over {1mol solute} right ) =mol  {H} rsub {2} {PO} rsub {4} rsup {-}

Actual Results:
the equation doesn't display right, and if I try to save it in .docx format when it looks like this, it just deletes the part of the equation that doesn't display properly, instead of saving it.

Expected Results:
the equation should display exactly the same as it does in word.

Reproducible: Always

its a minor bug but it is causing me a lot of stress and I am not going to suck microsoft's dick any harder than I have to. I'm not paying for a personal copy of word, and all my university's computers are locked down so I cant install libre there.

Please attach the OOXML .docx with the intact equations. Any issue with conversion of the MathML has already happened... we need the starting point.

Hey no need for vulgarity--keep it clean please!

We still will need the OOXML .docx from Word 2013--though you can save from Word to ODF formats--let MS do the formula conversion to ODF MathML. Might do a better job than LibreOffice's import.

Otherwise, here is the StarMath ML for the example formula (note the syntax for the chemical formulas...

ml of solution left({1L} over {1000ml} right) left({mol~ of Solute} over {1L} right) left ( {1mol H_2 PO_4^{-{}}} over {1mol` solute} right ) = mol~ H_2 PO_4^{-{}}

Use empty quotes "", or empty braces {} as placeholders for layout, and the space characters grave `, or tilde ~ to adjust spacing.

Since no response, I'll close. But this issue is already reported, as in See Also.
