Description yousifjkadom 2018-07-07 09:42:25 UTC
Hi. Currently there is a feature available in Microsoft Office still not available in LibreOffice.

In M.O if I add a footnote, & write it. But I dislike size & type & alignment of text in this footnote. And I like the following format for example:

- Time new Romman type of font (not that appear by default)
- size 12 (not that appear by default)
- "justified" alignment (not to left as appear by default)

I - more importantly - I like to make the above favourite parameters to be the default: that is to say, every footnote I will add in future in this document will be (Time new Romman + 12 size _ justified).

In M.O all what I have to do are:

- put mouse pointer over footnote (any footnote within target document),
- Ctrl+A (select all),
- then change parameter from L.O tool bar,
- then "Save", & that is all !

While in L.O if I use Ctrl+A for footnote, then change parameters & save, it will effect only the selected footnote (it work only on single footnote per time) & never effect document's footnotes globally & never be the default values for footnotes in that document (I have to repeat process every time I add new footnote)!

I searched to use tepmlate for that by edit template but these is currently no format options specifically operate on footnotes ......

I confirm it. Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a document with more than one footnote.
2. Put cursor in one footnote
3. Ctrl+A

Actual result: Only the current footnote is selected
Expected result: All footnotes are selected

Footnote is an established Style that is applied from template defaults onto new documents, or as "modified" (-> F11 Sidebar Deck) in the current document.

It requires management of the Style, not the direct formatting applied to a single footnote for inheritance to other footnotes.

=> NAB, and a =>WF should someone suggest this direct formatting be global.

@ V Stuart Foote

Thank you very much ! You are very correct ! I was not know this at all !

Now, I get relief by modify the footnote in my chief master as following:

Open L.O writer | File | Template | Manage template| then I selected my chief template & right click of it then from right click list I selected "change" | Click F11 | from emerging side bar | select "footnote" style | right click "footnote" style that selected from sidebar | then click "change" from right click list | do what you like to do (size of font, type of font, ......) | click O.K | finally click on save & that is all !

In fact this much better from Ctrl+A of Microsoft Office ! It is more elegant !
