Description Alex Thurgood 2018-08-22 10:13:37 UTC
Description:
Experimental features option is activated.

1) Open a Writer document.
2) Insert a field via the menu Insert - Field- Other or via F2
3) You get asked whether you want to migrate a database (it doesn't say which one) to firebird - this is a known bug already reported.
4) Clicking on later, then cycles through all of the registered database sources, bringing up a ID/PWD dialog where required, or alternatively, re-asking the same question about migrating a hsqldb to firebird
5) The user is forced to answer each attempt to connect or migrate to the end of the list of registered database sources, before the Insert - Field dialog is displayed.

Steps to Reproduce:
See above

Actual Results:
See above

Expected Results:
The Insert Field dialog should be displayed immediately, without attempting to connect to any of the registered database sources.

Reproducible: Always

Isn't this a duplicate of bug119210 ?
Comment 2 Alex Thurgood 2018-08-22 14:05:58 UTC
It is, insofar as the migration dialog is concerned, but I attempted to distinguish from that with regard to the other requests for connection to the remaining registered databases.

It might well have the same underlying cause, but I can't say for sure.

Have changed this bug to new. See bug 119210.

Have also changed the version to 6.*, see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119210#c17

Have also changed the hardware, because it appears on every system.

As I understand it, keywords regression & bibisectRequest do not make sense here
Comment 9 Justin L 2020-07-02 11:44:52 UTC
If I understand correctly, the part about the migration dialog is fully solved. So is it fair to say that the only way to visually notice this bug (beyond perhaps a bit of time lag) is to have multiple password protected databases registered - and thus be prompted to open them all when inserting a field?

As a basic user with only one extra HSQLDB registered, I didn't notice any problems in LO 7.1+
Comment 10 Justin L 2021-01-16 09:48:34 UTC
This should be fixed in 7.2 thanks to bug 119610.
