Description Drew Jensen 2018-12-21 18:05:37 UTC
Test system Ubuntu 18.04.1 (AMD64), LO 6.2.0.1 RC1 (GTK3)

To reproduce:

1 - Open any Impress file
2 - Ensure that the 'Mouse Pointer as Pen' option is enabled for this file.
3 - Start the slide presentation
4 - use the PEN to add some INK to the page
5 - Without leaving presentation mode use the context menu to remove all ink from the slide.
6 - End presentation mode and notice that no ink has been left on the slide (none shown in preview mode)
7 - Enter presentation mode again
8 - Use the PEN cursor to add some ink again
9 - End the presentation mode (notice that the ink is now displayed on the preview for this slide)
10 - Enter presentation mode again
11 - Using the context menu again remove all ink from this slide
12 - Exit presentation mode

result
The ink is till displayed on the slide preview, if the slide is opened for presentation mode the ink will be displayed, if the file is saved at this point or forward the ink will be saved on the slide. There appears to be no way at this point to remove the ink from that slide.

not a solution for this bug, but a workaround could be the enhancement that I just submitted with Bug 122732 : adding an eraser option in the right click menu during a slide show

Reproduced in

Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 7c7a4675ad5d61add70dd073f680ea37012962ce
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

and

Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 3ca42d8d51174010d5e8a32b96e9b4c0b3730a53
Threads 4; Ver: 4.15; Render: default;

but not in

Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: efca6f15609322f62a35619619a6d5fe5c9bd5a)

Tested with Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 0eaa0804085dd6e93257dd31361490720456679d
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;

and I can not confirm: 9 - End the presentation mode (notice that the ink is now displayed on the preview for this slide)

when I leave presentation mode, the ink lines are not saved in preview nor slide.
Comment 4 Bernard Decock 2019-10-29 18:13:12 UTC
Version: 6.3.2.2

1. Start a-with an empty presentation
2. Slide Show -> Slide Show Settings -> Mouse Pointer as Pen
3. Make sure to have an external screen!
4. Start presentation and draw accidentally something on the slide in the presenter-console!
5. Erase all ink on slide (ink is removed). Close presentation
6. Ink is still view able on the slides-overview
7. Start presentation => ink is visible on the external screen. Can be removed,
but will remain if the slide is displayed again.

There is no need for an external display. The key trigger is in leaving presentation mode without erasing all ink. Thus steps are:
1. Start an empty presentation;
2. Slide Show -> Slide Show Settings -> Mouse Pointer as Pen
3. Start presentation and draw something on empty silde
4. Exit presentation (ESC key or advancing to the end of presentation both work); After this step ink will be visible on the preview of slide and it is permanent.
5. Start slide show
6. Right click and Erase all ink on slide
7. Exit presentation
8. Observe how ink is still shown on the preview of slide and subsequent starts of presentation always will contain ink no matter how you try to erase it.

It is the purpose of step 2 to make the painting permanent. If you do not want that, do not check this option, but use the "mouse as pen" option which is available from context menu in running presentation.

The problem, that the ink cannot be erased in edit mode has its reason in bug 129898. I'm currently working on that bug.
