Description ricky.tigg 2019-01-16 20:34:07 UTC
Description:
Navigator's vertical scroll-bar is no longer exhibited once Navigator's area has been reduced according to the horizontal axis.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Show Sidebar (Ctrl F5). Apply as many times as needed one or several Header 1–10 styles to some expressions, so that their listing cannot be displayed as a whole inside the Navigator panel according to the vertical axis.
   Tip: resizing the window to smaller according to the vertical axis, will allow to perform the task faster, since the number of present Headers listed required to fill the Navigator's area according to that same axis will be smaller;
2. Left-click Styles icon, resize Styles area from its maximum width to a smaller one, as illustrated in attachment;
3. Left-click Navigator icon.

Actual Results:
Navigator's vertical scroll-bar is not exhibited.

Expected Results:
Navigator's vertical scroll-bar to be exhibited permanently.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Navigator's vertical scroll-bar not exhibited
Comment 2 Usama 2019-05-17 15:27:25 UTC
Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. I wasn't able to reproduce it on master version. Similar issue is present for horizontal scroll-bar in "styles" where text is cut and no scroll-bar is available but it seems fine for the "navigator"
I've created a lot of headers and I could see the scroll-bar.

Is it possible for you to check the issue using the latest version from master?

For Linux you can find an Appimage version here:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/
For Windows: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@42/current/

Three navigator cases

Version: 6.2.3.2; Build ID: 6.2.3.2-1.fc30; CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 5.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (C); UI-Language: en-US; Calc: threaded

Under that configuration three cases arise. navigator's width is at default in each view:
a – With headers who have width enough, and when navigator's hight is short enough, neither navigator's vertical – expected to be visible – nor horizontal scroll-bars – illustrated in case b and c – are visible;
b – When navigator's hight is long enough, at last horizontal scroll-bar is visible;
c – When headers list is long enough with headers who have width enough, and when navigator's hight is long enough, at last navigator's vertical and horizontal scroll-bars are visible.

Same observations as reported in my previous message using that AppImage. Under Fedora as Linux:

Ricky, are you able to reproduce the issue with the document from comment 5? If not, could you pleae add a sample document?

Issue illustrated in picture a is n longer reproducible. A new issue though arise; the hight of vertical scroll-bar does not scale while Navigator's area is being reduced according to the vertical axis.

I guess "reducing Navigator's area" means making the LibreOffice Window less tall.

I can't reproduce the scaling issue with gtk3 or kf5 backends. The scrollbar scales to a certain height and then stops - this height is determined by the Navigator window contents.

If possible, record a screen capture video of the problem and attach it to a new report.

Queried material

Two issues:
– Once icon named "Content Navigation Content" has been clicked to be activated, vertical scroll-bar will disappear.
– Navigator's area cannot be reduced according to horizontal axis.

You can create a new report for this.

> – Navigator's area cannot be reduced according to horizontal axis.

I asked about this and was told Samuel Mehrbrodt implemented minimum widths for certain decks. Apparently Styles and Gallery can still be reduced to zero width. I don't have time to dig into this further.
