Description Pete 2019-02-05 12:57:02 UTC
Description:
The character spacing/kerning in Verdana in Pt.11 is way too large for some letters.
Especially the letter 'm' followed by another letter. its nearly as wide as a space.

I've tried other writing editors on the same machine, it's specifically a problem of LO.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open new document

2.write some Text containing the letter 'm' followed by another letter
or use some blind text

3.apply 'Verdana' and in steps the size pt.9 to pt. 14 to it.

Actual Results:
the kerning differs a lot between these sizes and gets on pt.11 nearly as big as a space

Expected Results:
same kerning for all sizes or nearly proportional

Reproducible: Always

the property 'pairwise kerning' in:
Format -> character -> position
doesnt effect this.
Comment 3 Dieter 2019-02-05 13:27:49 UTC
I get the same result, but it depends on the zoom level:
100% O.K.
110% could be improved

Pete, do you also get different result with zoom in or out?

true,
in my opinion:

90% worst
100% ok
110% could be improved

This is likely caused by the same issue outlined in bug 103322.
Comment 8 Telesto 2022-01-17 15:55:45 UTC
It looks OK to me with

Should be fixed in 7.4 by bug 144862's fix.
