it would be great if in the navigator we could see the length of a chapter under "heading 1" headings... the length could be displayed in one decimal point accuracy -- relative to the length of a whole page: for example: Headings: one (h1) heading (0.5 pgs) another one (h1) heading (3.2 pgs) or: Headings: one (h1) heading (0.5 pgs, p1-p2) another one (h1) heading (3.2 pgs, p2-p5) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - note: the function of NAVIGATOR could be extended this way, as we could have a better overall view of the entire document... seeing a more detailed MAP of it :) --- thenk you for developing LibreOffice ---
The purpose of the Navigator is to access and list objects, not to give insights into your document. Some ideas how to evolve are here https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2016/07/31/how-the-navigator-may-support-object-handling-in-libreoffice-draw/. So my take here is WF. We could add the paragraph's and chapter's word count to the respective dialog (see bug 123083), but not the number of pages.
I'm not against enhancing the Navigator with useful information for users, but page numbers seems not a useful measuring unit.
We discussed the request in the design meeting and agreed that the Navigator is not the right place for it. But it makes sense to show the word count with the respective dialog (click on the second statusbar panel). Stressed in bug 123083 is the idea to show radiobuttons (or checkboxes) in this dialog select what property is shown in the panel.
- 1 from me if it will be realize as number of pages
So let's have this information at the dedicated dialog. Making this request a duplicate of the other. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 123083 ***
