Confirmed we are shipping Source Serif Pro ver 2.007 in current master, with the Italic face at ver 1.007
Not strictly related with version 3, but a general point about Source Serif Pro fonts future: the project is developing "optical sizes"(1), a feature not supported by LibreOffice(2). In fact, LibreOffice have some serious problems with fonts that offer more shapes/weights than the classical regular, italic, bold and bold italic "combo"(3)(4). That means that future version of Source Serif Pro will NOT work properly with LibreOffice, as many other professional grade fonts do not properly work today (in addition to the examples provided within the bug reports, check the "Paragraph style resets font style attribute on document close/open"(5) thread in ask.libreoffice).
