heading test file

Confusion can be caused when accessing the context menu to expand or collapse all entries with the newly added expand collapse all menu items.

Here are steps to repro the confusion that can be caused:

1) Open the attached headings test file
2) Menu > View > Navigator or F5 to open the Navigator
3) Right mouse click on Headings entry in the Navigator content list
4) Select the 'Expand All' item from the context menu
5) Right mouse click on the expand/collapse button to the left of the Headings entry

Results: Expand All is shown in the context menu as a result of the Headings entry being collapsed by the click on the expand/collapse button.

Expected results: It may be that you are accessing the context menu to Collapse All entries and are surprised to find Expand All displayed in the context menu. This also works in the opposite way by clicking on the expand/collapse button again expecting Expand All to be displayed and finding Collapse All instead.

Suggested fix: Don't expand/collapse when right click on expand/collapse button.

@Jim, selectively opening or closing the branches of the tree view seems natural.

Mixing -/+ expose buttons vs. the collapse context menu actions does not seem at all confusing to me.

You always have the visual representation of what is exposed--and the location where one selects the expose button or opens the context menu is immediately apparent during use.

Having some branches still closed after a collapse all and expand all cycle seems comfortable--while requiring a second expand all (or + expose button) on a branch or for the whole tree makes for better workflow.

Not seeing a down side to how you've implemented--thanks by the way!

Hi Stuart,

The confusion that I have is when I use the right mouse button on the expand/collapse icon/button the Expand/Collapse All menu item is then opposite of what I expected to find. Let's wait and see if this is a source of confusion for any other but myself. It really is minor ;-) Thanks for the input.

I don't see an issue. You're probably concerned that Collapse is shown only when all nodes are open. Could be solved with two commands, one for Expand and another one for Collapse. But way too much fuss, IMHO.

Okay. Please keep in mind.

No issue has been reported, let's close this.
