Description wayfinder7@gmail.com 2019-11-14 02:59:48 UTC
Description:
Since the latest Windows update (11-13-2019) Libre Office fails installation.

Warning 1909: Could not create shortcut Libre Office 6.6.lnk
Internal error 2902: ixoShortcutPropertyCreate

Installation fails and Libre "rolls back" installation. But the rollback fails and Libre Office is totally disabled on the system.

This problem can be bypassed if one chooses to NOT create a shortcut on the desktop.

Actual Results:
Installation failed and Libre failed to rollback.

Expected Results:
Full installation without problems

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Can be bypassed if one opts out of desktop shortcut.

See the Warning 1909 Could not create shortcut (Internal error 2902 ixoShortcutPropertyCreate) discussion, and "Disable antivirus" section, in FAQ [1].

By the way, see the "however, in Windows Defender case, it might be necessary to add LibreOffice's soffice.bin to the Defender's Controlled Folder Access exceptions list" remark there, which is related to tdf#128807 marked as duplicate of this.

I am unaware of any stated "needinfo" post in this bug report. I am a user, not IT. The bug was confirmed on my system. Beyond that I have no control. What information has been requested?

There is certainly a need for info. In your earlier comment you said:

...but you never followed up! Did the problem go away? Putting back to needinfo while we wait.

Apparently this self-fixed. Apologies... I had forgotten about this bug until I got the recent email notice. Libre has properly updated several times over the past few months. Apparently I did as Mike suggested and it took care of the problem. I'd call this one "fixed".
