I generally install a new version of Fedora Linux, or some other distribution. Each new distribution that I install often needs some of my credentials such as provided in the "Options" Minimally, First Name, Name, Initials. Why the request? I do try different Linux versions and while I use them, I also use two facilities within LibreOffice Writer. Track changes Manage comments. If I forget to setup my name on first use, but I enter track changes, My changes and comments are setup to anonymous. Later, when I do complete the form to include my name, It is with difficulty that I am able to amend my document's comments.
Not a fan, just another in your face Pop-up when configuring an initial install. The OOo era user dialog was stripped out early in LO project, see no need to restore similar. Implications for managed installations, and for upgrade install with an existing profile, would not be applicable. Those that need tracked changes / commenting, and remembered positioning in documents already know to configure their user details. IMHO => WF
When you have to install several Linux versions and they need LibreOffice, it is convenient to ask for a user name. I presume that a startup environment variable or some console way to manage LibreOffice could bypass the "Enter User Name"
This has been requested in bug 91441, bug 81540 and others. The welcome dialog was/is known from OpenOffice and was removed intentionally in favor of the start center - as kind of welcome, and we don't want to bother users with profile questions. Therefore I'll resolve this as duplicate and the other as WF. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 91441 ***
It would be useful to check first time use of track changes, or comments, and recommend the user add his identification. Its not an issue for me, but a convenience.
(In reply to lsatenstein@yahoo.com from comment #4) > It would be useful to check first time use of track changes, or comments, > and recommend the user add his identification. Having an infobar at that moment with a button to go to relevant options page, and a "do not show again" checkbox, would be a reasonable thing - is it worth a separate issue?
