Description Daniel MOYNE 2020-05-11 21:32:14 UTC
copy and paste with mouse not more works. After selecting a text field to be pasted somewhereelse when I use the middle mouse button for pasting I have no pasted action but a stange icon (circle with black dot in middle arrow toward to ans arrow towards buttom) appears. How can I reset expected action.

The options about Mouse are in Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/View/Mouse, other possibilities should be on the Operating System.
Comment 2 Daniel MOYNE 2020-05-14 12:30:25 UTC
What is reported is what can no more be done with the mouse without using the mouse menu "copy" then "paste". When selecting a field with the mouse it should be possible to paste it anywhere by selecting the position and then paste it with the middle mouse button like I can do it on this text while editing it. This typical expected behaviour was apparently replaced by something else

Copying by selecting and pasting with the middle mouse is something I used to do a lot and now I miss it.

You can't paste with this mechanism in the "input line" either.

Report is insufficient and careless to testers. Did you search existing bugs, msny on paste? Which OS? Which environment, KDE only? Did you try other? Mutter issue? Which LO version worked and which not? Does keyboard paste still work? Do toolbar icons work?

I am surprised the message is clear: copying and pasting directly with the mouse without using menu or icons is the most efficient way to edit a text in wherever place : text, text in formulas, etc.... It was on before. I have used this fonction in writing this message to extract the following:
"Version : 6.4.3.2
Build ID : 1:6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.1
Threads CPU : 8; OS : Linux 5.4; UI Render : par défaut; VCL: kf5;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Langue IHM : fr-FR
Calc: threaded"

I was suffering from this problem too since upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04, but as indicated by m.a.riosv I went to Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/View/Mouse and changed the "Middle button" option from "Automatic Scrolling" to "Paste clipboard". I restarted Calc, and middle button paste worked again. Yay! Thanks m.a.

Thank you, Satphil, for the solution. I would never have found it.

Do you think that in the input toolbar the behavior should always be the same as the operating system (click middle buttom = paste)?

And over the grid what the user indicates in the preferences.

yes it worked for me in libre office writer but I had to reboot to get the effect enabled.

This bug is a duplicate of bug 132712, indicating that reporter should have searched before reporting.
As explained, it's NotOurBug, but you should report to Ubuntu instead.
