Place attach a sample file illustrating the issue (the file will be public)
Comment 2 rino.adami 2020-05-23 08:29:47 UTC
The problem is simple.
I have .odt file about 100 megabyte containing index, images, links, ..., currently 1450 pages.
This file is updated, saved and exported to .pdf periodically.
With LibreOffice 6.3.6 this file is exported to .pdf in about 5 minutes (acceptable time for this old my computer).
But if I completely remove LibreOffice 6.3.6 and install and use Libreoffice 6.4.x (but also with version 7.0 alpha1) when I export that file in .pdf it takes two hours and I think this time is really too big (crazy).

Thank you for reporting the bug, rino.adami@gmail.com.

Like Telesto requested, can you please attach a sample .odt file to this bug report? Having this attachment makes it easier for us to verify the bug.

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once a sample document is provided.

(Note that the attachment will be public, remove any sensitive information before attaching it.
See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FAQ#How_can_I_eliminate_confidential_data_from_a_sample_document.3F for further details regarding the removal of such information.)

Comment 5 rino.adami 2020-05-23 18:20:45 UTC
The program, from version 6.4.0 does not generate an error but as already described it takes too long to export 100 MB files in .pdf (about two hours).

My big .odt file about 100 MB containing index, images, links, ..., currently 1450 pages is updated, saved and exported to .pdf periodically.

With LibreOffice 6.3.6 this file is exported to .pdf in about 5 minutes (acceptable time for my old computer).

But if I completely remove LibreOffice 6.3.6 and install and use Libreoffice 6.4.x (but also with version 7.0 alpha1) when I export this file in .pdf it takes two hours and I think this time is really too big (crazy).

I remove the old version of LibreOffice through these four steps:
- first (from terminal)
$ sudo apt-get --purge remove libreoffice *.*
this cleans up more than 600 MB of disk space

- second (from terminal)
$ sudo apt autoremove
this cleans up any other files that are no longer in use on the system

- third (from "caja" file manager)
in the hidden folder /home/user/.config remove the libreoffice folder

- fourth (from "caja" file manager)
open the /opt folder as administrator and remove the libreoffice folder.

New libreoffice is downloaded with torrent from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/:
- libreoffice (linux 64bit deb)
- translated user interface (italian)
- help for offline use (italian)
The three packages are then unpacked.
Installation is done from terminal (#) using the command dpkg -i *.deb

Unfortunately I cannot attach my 100 MB file.
I attach .odt file containing this description.

Any suggestion where a 100 MB file can be uploaded?

Well, for example https://gofile.io/
But these file sharing sites should only be considered temporary. The better option would be to minimise that 100MB ODT to under 30MB, so it can be attached here.

Problem is still present in every release after 6.3.6 including the 7.1 Beta1
Comment 9 rino.adami 2021-05-23 07:33:55 UTC
Hi!
Problem is still present on LibreOffice 7.1.3

i used the new daily development version
LibreOfficeDev-7.2.0.0.alpha0_2021-05-13.standard.help-x86_64.AppImage
downloaded from https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/
and the problem is not present.
