Would it be possible in future versions of LibreOffice to specify different file paths depending on the application selected? Example: currently I keep all user files in a top level folder called "WillyStuff". Under that folder are different folders for "WPDocs", "Spreadsheets", "Presentations" and the like. It would be very useful to be able to open Calc and be immediately to be using the file path for spreadsheets. Similarly, when opening Writer, it would be useful to be using a different file path for WPDocs. I hope that this is suitably clear.
Note: This has been the paradigm since I first found LibreOffice right after OpenOffice forked. Every other product suite I use permits the end user to specify unique user file paths depending on the application selected. This can be done in MS Office as an example.
Was looking for the duplicate but couldn't find the exact match. But worth to take a look anyway bug 105751 Separate document saved options from global options in Options dialog bug 129886 Save Untitled document uses Path set in Options rather than "last-used" directory bug 129292 Writer uses the last-used directory for opening and saving files, ignoring the setting in Options > Paths > My Documents bug 126665 [RFE] remember location where last file was saved - across LO modules In particular the last ticket is striking to me. You work on <Foo> at one directory with both text and sheets at the same place. The predefined directory-pre-module with Documents/Texts, Documents/Sheets etc. is for sure less common (and sounds wrong to me).
No further input, so resolving as WF. The request might be reasonable for your workflow, Willy, but is uncommon for the majority. Plus, it has a considerable effort to implement and drawbacks on the usability (more configuration switches make the interaction not easier). Feel free to reopen if you disagree or if you can provide further arguments.
