Description Yossi Cohen 2020-11-23 20:22:42 UTC
Description:
When using the tabbed (aka the Notebookbar) "Ribbon" style UI in Calc, the Right to Left and Left to Right text direction buttons are missing.
They are present in writer and in the normal Toolbar view.

All other modules have it working correctly (Writer, Impress, Draw)

I have noticed it in 6.2.4.2 up until the latest 7.2 nightly build.
In 7.2 the option to customize the Tabbed view was added and you can hide and show buttons in the Notebookbar. However, these buttons are missing from the list entirely.

Keywords: UI, Missing, Button, RTL, Hebrew, Arabic, Eastern, Foreign Language, LTR, UX, Calc, Notebook bar, Tabbed view.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to tabbed UI in calc in RTL supporting languages.
2. It's a UI bug, It's always there

Actual Results:
Missing Buttons

Expected Results:
There should be the buttons in the text aligning section

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Show these buttons and have the ability to show/hide these buttons in calc while in tabbed view.

I confirm this with:

Version: 7.0.3.1
Build ID: d7547858d014d4cf69878db179d326fc3483e082
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.2; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: he-IL (en_IL); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

I see this as a symptom of the mis-feature that is the ribbon mode ("tabbed view"). It has seemingly not gotten a lot of attention in implementation considering the missing and oddly-placed buttons, of which this is a prominent example. And devoting this time may not be a sound investment of developer resources.

CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.10; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-IL (en_IL); UI: en-US
